The Grumman F9F Panther was one of the Navy's first carrier-based jet fighters. Finished to a high standard it's an excellent replica of the real aircraft. Extra features like a realistic landing gear and clear cockpit with pilot add to the authenticity of this model. If you're really good you will be able to perform the famous 'Cobra Manoeuvre' with this radio controlled jet.

The Grumman F9F Panther was one of the U.S. Navy's first successful carrier-based jet fighters. Introduced in 1958 the Panther was the most widely used US Navy jet fighter of the Korean War, flying 78,000 sorties and scoring the first air-to-air kill by the US Navy in the war, the downing of a North Korean Yakovlev Yak-9 fighter.

Capable of 575mph and with a range of 1,300 miles, this jet had quite a thirst for fuel. As there was insufficient space within the wings and fuselage for the amount of fuel required, permanently-mounted wingtip fuel tanks were added which had the side benefit of improving the fighter's rate of roll! The jet was retired by the US in the late fifties to early sixties, but was still in service with the Argentinian Navy (the only foreign buyer of the Panther) until 1969.

Like all the planes in the Starmax range, the Panther is finished in the factory to a high standard and represents an excellent replica of the real aircraft. But! Looks are only half of the story with these models. In the air, it is an incredible acrobat, and capable of over 90mph. It is launchable by hand or will take off from the ground with ease. As you can no doubt imagine, this package of power and size, makes for an extremely agile aeroplane; this fighter has an amazing 3D aerobatic repertoire in experienced hands with a tremendous roll rate and an ability to climb vertically at incredible speed. This Nitrotek jet comes with a 2.4G radio which means the range is longer and more stable plus you do not have to worry about interference from other fliers. It is also equipped with a powerful brushless motor, for the best performance. The plane is made from strong but lightweight foam that is more resistant to crashes and gives easier stable flight even in windy conditions. This aeroplane can take off from the ground or can be hand launched.
This plane is 90% assembled and so only a few minutes of final finishes are needed before you can fly. Also everything you need is in the box, apart from 8 AA batteries, which you'll need to power the radio contol transmitter.
