The Type 90 is produced in Japan by Mitsubishi and is used exlusively by the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force. The Type 90 is fitted with a 120mm Smoothbore Cannon which is manufactured by Rheinmetall in Germany and is the same gun fitted to the Leopard 2. Being a totally Japanese design, with no export market, it is one of the most expensive tanks in the NATO arsenal.
