AKA Racing Grid Iron Soft AKA14003S
, ,
AKA Racing Grid Iron Tire in Hard compound has a low-profile tread with small, staggered square spikes arranged symmetrically across and around the tire to provide a superior balance of forward and side bite. Long, staggered center lugs add a little extra forward bite, and greatly increase tread life by reducing wear.
Included Revolutionary Inserts:
The AKA tires have already set new standards in competitive RC racing, but the real buzz is about the superior performance and MUCH longer life of the inserts that are included in AKA tire/insert sets. The inserts included with most other brands of tires are far too soft and degrade well before the tire is worn out - sometimes as quickly as a single run. That means much of the performance of their tires is lost because the inferior inserts fail much too quickly. The AKA factory drivers have run a single set of inserts through at least 10 to 20 sets of tires! They are simply that durable. The inserts are also precision ground, which means the insert fits the tire perfectly right off the shelf - no trimming required. The inserts are also very well balanced, and don't degrade when exposed to water, so you can count on having the best performance from your tires as long and they'll last - and for the next 20 sets of tires!
1/8th Buggy Grid Iron
The Grid Iron tire was designed for tracks that are hard packed and or tracks with little dust. This tire design is a great outdoor or indoor alternative. The square outer pins and bar center pins allow for great traction and long tire life compared to other small pin tires.
Innovations:
Tread Performance: Each tire tread is computer designed and track tested by AKA engineers and team drivers to ensure the best performance before each tire goes into production.
Balance: Like AKA inserts and wheels, tire balance is critical to superior performance and it's a priority in AKA tires. Mold components are manufactured to the highest tolerances to ensure the best possible alignment of all the mold components. This results in a tire with more uniform thickness for the best possible balance.
Lifespan: The long life of the AKA tires is due to the collective decades of rubber compound development that AKA brings to the table. In fact, AKA engineers have been responsible for developing some of the most successful tires in off-road racing for a generation. Each compound is tested in labs then rigorously track tested to ensure the highest quality.
Mold Accuracy: AKA tire molds are made in the U.S.A. using the most advance mold-making techniques and processes available. The cost is higher to produce such a precision mold, but its part of an uncompromising desire to deliver the highest quality product available.
Compounds: AKA offers 3 different long-lasting tire compounds, each of which is color-coded by a small mark on the sidewall of each tire.
* Soft Green
* Medium Blue
* Hard Yellow
These compounds provide superior grip for across the entire spectrum of track conditions. For specific compound information, see our tire application chart to determine which tire is best suited to your track conditions.
Resealable bag: AKA was the first to introduce this simple and effective packaging to the r/c car market. Each bag can hold two sets of tires and more importantly can be used over and over. The bag also helps keep them organized and out of the elements which keep the rubber at its best possible condition.
Notes from the team:
The Grid Iron tire is a team favorite and is used on the front and the rear of the car in hard packed conditions. This tire combines the forward bite to launch you out of the corners yet still provides a stable feel while cornering.
