Ultra-light, incredibly strong aircraft wheels designed for Electric Flight Two conflicting needs for electric flight wheels: they must be extremely lightweight, but they must also be strong because the heavy batteries in electric airplanes put great pressure on landing gear and wheels. "LYT" wheels are made of an unusual foam which is extremely light but which only compresses ten percent under a ten pound load. We know of no other lightweight wheels which can support a heavy electric airplane yet withstand the stress that a heavy airplane puts on them.
