*We've found that there is very little difference in the image quality between 8500Kb/s verses 7000KB/s, but the lower bitrate significantly decreases instability or the chance of lockups if there is a lot of static in the video. Static in the video signal stresses the codec and hardware, and it's best to not have the DVR lock up if you are losing your signal! If you would like to switch to a version of the firmware that has a higher bitrate for recording, please contact us prior to placing the order via the support ticket system. We may be able to change the firmware for you for a small fee prior to shipping. Please DO NOT request this in the order comments without discussing this with us prior to placing the order.
