BIG---Over 5' Wingspan WW2 Fighter/Bomber in EPO foam
This is a BIG model with a 63" wingspan that gives it a great presence in the air. Assembly is easy and only takes a couple of hours at most. The model includes a nicely detailed cockpit that only needs the addition of a 1/8th scale pilot to complete the look. I added and Aces of Iron WW2 pilot. The retracts are servoless electronic units on the main gear and the tailwheel for ease of operation. The main wheels are undersized for scale appearance, I added some 3-1/2" Scale Robart wheels for a much more scale appearance. The conversion was easy, the wheels bolt on the axels without modification. The wheel wells in the wings have to be enlarged so the wheels will clear, I did this with a long bladed hobby knife and a little effort. The airplane has a powerful brushless outrunner motor designed for 4 cells spinning the semi-scale 4-bladed prop that is 16" in diameter. Flying speed is scale like, if you wish to increase the flying speed you will need to switch to a 2-bladed prop. The CG written in the build manual is incorrect, it should be set between 80-90mm back from the LE of the main wing. In order to achieve this CG you will need large batteries or additional weight. I used a 4-cell 5000mAh battery for power and still needed some additional nose weight. I also flew the model using 2-4200mAh packs in parallel giving me a capacity of 8400mAh and the weight that I needed, flight times were 8 minutes plus. Control surfaces are live hinged but pin hinges are included with the airplane to upgrade the controls. The airplane has very effective flaps that really slow it down for easy landings. The airplane can handle grass fields well due to its large size. Needs a 6-channel radio for Ailerons, Elevator, Rudder, Flaps, Retracts and Throttle.
