Beginner aircraft that transitions to an intermediate aircraft as your skills grow. This airplane is "Receiver Ready" meaning the required transmitter and receiver are not included with the kit. If you would like the transmitter and receiver included, please order the ready-to-fly version: ERC2200 . 43-3/4 in. wingspan, 29-1/2 in. long, 291 sq. in. wing area, 26 oz. flying weight. A good trainer airplane needs certain characteristics - it needs to be easy to fly, plus it needs to be tough. The Piper J-5 is tough; its EPO foam construction can take a lot of beginner abuse and keep on going. The generous wing area and high lift airfoil combine to make an easy to fly airplane that includes the bonus of great scale looks. As a result, a beginner can finally learn to fly with a real looking airplane that is modeled after an authentic full-scale Piper J-5. The scale details include a main landing gear that is an actual shock-absorbing unit with real rubber tires, plus the tailwheel is steerable and also scale in appearance. The scale engine detail brings the airplane to life and the working navigation lights complete the package. video
Scale looks are great but even better news is that the J-5 flies like a real trainer - one that will teach you to fly. The J-5 accomplishes this with the unique dual-dihedral system that starts by training you to fly on 3-channels with rudder, elevator and throttle. The photo-illustrated instruction manual shows you how to set the proper wing dihedral by securing the wing struts in the beginner position. In the 3-channel setting, the control of the airplane is with rudder and elevator on the right stick and throttle on the left stick. Once you're comfortable flying with 3-channels, you'll be ready to move up to 4-channels and the J-5 can grow with your skill level. All you have to do is follow the instructions that show you how to reduce the wing dihedral, plug in the Y-connector for the aileron channel, and cut the ailerons free. Then you'll be ready to fly the J-5 with 4-channels and can start learning how to do aerobatics, slips, rolls and other advanced maneuvers. Piper J-5 Trainer Receiver Ready Airplane Features:
