For 2016 we have added an extra day of fun to FPV Fest, beginning on
Thursday
this year!
RMRC FPV Fest is held at the Willard Ohio Airport, a full scale paved runway that is temporarily closed to full scale aircraft and reserved for this special FPV event.
Only 75 Pilot Slots available!
The basic cost of $30 includes a free t-shirt (supplied at the show) and a reserved 15'x15' space for an easy-up. After covering the cost of the shirts, the remaining funds (around $20) will be
donated
to the
Willard Hope Center

- We try to bring as much as we can to support you, so we bought a new trailer this year!
Flight Information
Free Flight
-
This was the reason we started FPV Fest and we are excited to get some air time along with you!
Frequencies -
After positive feedback from last years event, we will continue to allow free flight pilots to use 900MHz, 1.3 GHz, and 2.3-2.4 GHz to be used while multirotor racing is taking place.
The biggest change this year, is that we will only allow
200mw
and
Race Band
at all times for
5.8GHz
.
The use of 5.8GHz will NOT be allowed during race time for free flight. Please note that we will not be allowing ANY illegal or international frequencies at
FPV
Fest. Legal US amateur band frequencies or FCC approved transmitters only.
To allow 900MHz Video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz.
Frequency Etiquette -
Before you turn on your transmitter, you
MUST
have the designated frequency card displayed AND you must power on your ground station or goggles to verify no one is broadcasting on your frequency. If you do not have this lanyard,
do not
turn your transmitter on!
We reserve the right to ban offending pilots from the flight line at our discretion. Don't be "that guy" and ruin someone's day!
Pilot Slots -
During controlled times, we will be using a digital sign up again this year for pilot slots. If you have not used this before, we will explain at sign in. Please check this schedule often to know when your name is coming up on the list. Flying times will be limited to
20 minutes
for each session. We will try to make announcements as much as possible to help with this.
No Fly Zones -
A map of the area with no fly zones listed (ex. car dealership) will be handed out at sign in. Please review this before flying and know where you are heading to avoid these areas. More details will be provided on the handout.
Night Flying -
Bring your night flyers! This is one of the most fun activities at any RC event!
Multirotor Racing
-
FPV announcer extraordinaire,
Joe Scully
makes his epic return to RMRC FPV Fest!
Sign ups -
We will begin sign ups on Friday morning. Last chance sign ups will be allowed on Saturday, but you will miss the first day of qualifying for the main event.
Frequencies -
All multirotor racing will use the 200mw 5.8Ghz race band system without exception. Personal transmitters are allowed, but they must be capable of Race Band and a maximum of 200mw. If you need a transmitter or 3, please check the drop down box below for a special discount.
Please bring right and left hand circular polarized antennas.
To allow 900MHz Video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz.
Classes -
We will have 2 classes available for multirotor racing. We would love to have more, but this event is more than just racing and time is limited. It is intended to be a fun event with some nice prizes.
No whining allowed!
(Cannot sign up for both)
2 Days of racing!
- Two qualifiers will take place on Friday afternoon. One, last chance qualifier will be offered on Saturday afternoon, followed by the mains hopefully in the evening (LED Gates) if weather allows. Of course we will have other fun challenges and practice sessions available for these 2 days. Practice is available any time open flying is, including at night when the LEDs are on.
LEDs -
Since we intend on doing night racing with multirotors, we will
require LEDs
to be installed. You can choose how to install them and how many, but they become very difficult to find in the grass without them. It also makes spectating much more interesting!
Transponders -
We will be using the i-Laps system for timing. If you have your own, please bring them or buy them
HERE
ahead of time.
Prizes -
TBA
Fixed Wing Racing -
Parts of the multirotor course will be used for the wing races!
Sign Ups -
We will begin sign ups on Friday morning and Racing will take place after the 2 multirotor qualifiers. If there is demand from the pilots, we may be able to organize a second race on Sunday.
Frequencies -
All of the main frequencies will be available for the fixed wing race. Because of this, free flight will not be allowed during this time.
To allow 900MHz video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz.

We will have 2 classes available for fixed wing racing. We would love to have more, but this event is more than just racing and time is limited. It is intended to be a fun event with some nice prizes.
